Private detective Katinka Palfy needs a break. Therefore, she participates in an archery course in the Hassberge region near Bamberg. She befriends Paula Stephanus, another participant. After a night of partying, Paula's husband Hagen is found dead in the woods: his chest has been pierced by an arrow. According to the autopsy, he died a slow, agonizing death caused by the arrow poison curare. While the police hunt for the murderer, the frightened Paula asks Katinka for protection. However, Paula is also a suspect; after all, she wanted to separate from Hagen. And she knows more about his dealings with illegal substances than is healthy for her...
