Easter time in the Diocese of Speyer. The managing director and the editor-in-chief of the diocesan newspaper "Der Pilger" narrowly escape an assassination attempt in the Speyer Cathedral. The deeper Commissioner Palzki investigates in the vicinity of the Bishop's Ordinariate, the more he becomes convinced that the cathedral is meant to be the final resting place not only for bishops, kings, and emperors. He is unable to prevent further attacks and finds himself in mortal danger.
