A male corpse found in a field in Lower Lusatia, bound to a wooden cross like a human scarecrow, brings Chief Inspector Peter Nachtigall into action. Shortly thereafter, a second body is discovered, this time on the banks of the Elbe in Dresden. Both victims were professionally involved in women's football. Mysterious messages also reveal that there are to be more murders. Everything suggests that the crimes are connected to the upcoming Women's Football World Cup in Germany.
