Product details
Johann Wilhelm Hittorf (1824-1914) and William Crookes (1832-1919) both paved the way for the discovery of the electron as the first subatomic particle through their experimental research with gas discharge tubes and the interpretation of these phenomena, albeit in different ways. This work examines and documents the differing approaches of Hittorf and Crookes in the study of gas discharge phenomena in the second half of the 19th century.
