What makes a city a city? Its physical form, its topography and geometric structure undoubtedly, but just as important are the people who act within it and their stories, which literally take their own winding paths. In passing, every exploration of a city produces multifaceted, simultaneous spaces and narratives. They mobilize us or make us stumble; they can lead us astray and disrupt our reading habits—especially when the movements of walking are staged and reflected as stories in literature and art. At the center of Marie-Louise Nigg's spatial studies is the focus on the two locations of Berlin and Buenos Aires, viewed through the lens of a novel as well as a performative, interactive art or theater project.
