The thoughts I convey in this book aim to capture the fundamental mood I have observed in Goethe's worldview. Over many years, I have repeatedly contemplated the image of this worldview. It was particularly intriguing for me to see the revelations that nature has made about its essence and laws to Goethe's finely tuned sensory and spiritual faculties. I came to understand why Goethe regarded these revelations as such a profound happiness that he sometimes valued them even more than his gift for poetry. The impressions that Goethe received from the phenomena of nature must be known if one wishes to understand the full depth of his works. The secrets he gleaned about the essence and becoming of creation live in his artistic creations and are revealed only to those who listen attentively to the messages.
