Göttingen in Brilliant Images
First mentioned in documents as "Gutingi" in the year 953, Göttingen has around 120,000 inhabitants and is the central hub of Southern Lower Saxony. Set in the picturesque Leine Valley, it is framed by the Weserbergland to the west and the Harz mountains to the east. The Georg-August University, founded in 1732, along with several Max Planck Institutes, has produced a remarkable number of Nobel laureates, establishing Göttingen's reputation as a city of science. The city confidently promotes itself with the slogan "Göttingen, the city that creates knowledge." A wide range of cultural and sporting activities, a well-preserved city center, and a wealth of historical architecture make Göttingen attractive not only to the approximately 30,000 students. With this illustrated book, we showcase the beauty and diversity of a young, livable, and beloved city in the heart of Germany.
