The book by the renowned literary scholar examines the forms of image exchange between science, religion, art, and literature. Beyond the controversy between the pictorial and linguistic turn, it addresses the knowledge of images at the boundary between measuring and interpreting: at the threshold between trace and sign, imaginary and visible, material and figure, scene and narrative, data and graphic/concept.
