Abstract: This paper examines the method of active listening as part of communication management in a professional environment. After an introduction to basic models of communication psychology, the method is contextualized within the philosophy of its founder, Carl Rogers, explained in its fundamental aspects, and then its various application methods – paraphrasing and verbalizing – are presented. The aim of this work is to clarify the question of in which situations the application of active listening is beneficial for problem-solving and under what circumstances its use should be critically assessed.
