Analysis and interpretation of Friedrich Schiller's "The Glove
German, 2012Product details
Study paper from 2009 in the field of German - Literature, works, grade: 11, Philipps University of Marburg, course: Theory and Practice of Poem Analysis, language: German. In the following paper, I will analyze Friedrich Schiller's ballad "The Glove" (1797) considering various formal and content-related aspects. The ballad "The Glove" describes the abuse of love using a variety of rhetorical devices. Unexpected twists in the course of events create an ironic effect as human and animal instincts confront each other. The punchline drives the sarcasm to its peak. The knight, humiliated by the noble lady, shows equal disdain. Although he passes the test of courage and should be celebrated as a hero, he leaves the lady, thus proving his self-sufficiency.
