Product details

Scientific essay from 2010 in the field of sociology - War and Peace, Military, Language: German. Abstract: The Swiss Jomini, a general in the service of Napoleon and from 1813 of Russia, is alongside the Prussian Carl von Clausewitz the most important military theorist and historian of the 19th century. He left behind a comprehensive body of work, whose influence is still felt today, particularly in the United States of America. Antoine-Henri Jomini (1779-1869) was born on March 6, 1779, in Payerne (Switzerland) as the son of the city clerk Jomini. Due to the political situation in the canton of Vaud, Jomini was unable to attend a cadet school and was therefore instructed by his father Benjamin to begin an apprenticeship at the Preiswerk bank in Basel, which did not satisfy him at all. He returned home and initially devoted himself to studying the campaigns of Frederick.
