The topic of this paper is prenatal diagnostics (PND) with a focus on ethics and counseling. I want to address the question of whether PND is a curse or a blessing and whether the resulting counseling has become a means to perfect the seemingly necessary PND. With today's knowledge and capabilities in medicine, the possibilities for creative interventions are developing at an astonishing speed. Therefore, human existence is no longer just a gift from God and the origin of nature; rather, pregnancy has become a controlled process focused on prevention.
