Abstract: The aim of this thesis is to present and understand the significant cultural differences in body language, as they, alongside verbal differences, are key competencies for successful communication and demonstrate the importance of this means of communication. To achieve this goal, the following questions are addressed: What is communication, nonverbal communication, and culture? Is body language innate or acquired, conscious or unconscious? What are the cultural differences in nonverbal language? What function and significance does this form of communication have? This thesis positions nonverbal communication and its cultural differences as the most important form of interpersonal communication.
