Dostoyevsky and the killing of the father
German, Beata Janosz, 2010Product details
Research paper from 2004 in the field of Psychology - Social Psychology, grade: 1.2, Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, course: Psychoanalysis and Art, language: German.
Abstract: Since the Freudian psychoanalysis found its application in literature, our understanding of literary works has changed. The question is whether literature can be interpreted psychoanalytically. There are two opposing poles and two different perspectives on this issue. Traditional literary critics want literature to remain focused on its aesthetic function. In contrast, followers of Freud's teachings believe that every work of art expresses an emotional conflict of the author, which can be examined using psychoanalytic tools. Sigmund Freud was not interested in art itself.
