Language: German. Abstract: This seminar paper examines the extent to which it is possible to enhance mental performance with Ritalin and the dangers that consumers consciously or unconsciously face. Technical inventions such as the railway or the telephone save us time, yet we continually find ourselves under time pressure. Our daily lives have become increasingly accelerated. Each individual must try to keep up. Currently, we live in a society where physical strength is no longer the focus, but rather our intellect. The performance of our brain is our capital. Many people are seeking ways to cope with the increasing pressure to perform at work or in their studies. Memory and cognitive functions are extremely complex traits of the human brain. The following sections will address the terms brain doping and the active ingredient methylphenidate found in Ritalin. Subsequently, the impact on human personality will be examined more closely, and the reasons for taking such medication will be identified. Finally, the short- and long-term consequences for consumers in the workplace will be outlined and viewed from a company's perspective.
