Abstract: Views on what constitutes a good childhood and its significance in a person's life have changed dramatically from era to era over the centuries. However, never before has the child been so prominently placed at the center of research interest as in the 20th century, which Ellen Key declared the "Century of the Child." What are ultimately the "true" factors of successful upbringing and socialization? How can we influence the positive development of the child to promote it in the long term? These questions were posed by the emerging reform pedagogy, represented by well-known figures such as Maria Montessori.
