Abstract: This introduction to physics can be used both as a supportive aid for the fundamentals of school physics at the level of the Abitur or technical college, as well as for refreshing physics knowledge or as an entertaining read of a scientific nature. It covers both the historical development of physics and its origins—primarily in Greece—as well as the most important physical formulas and calculations in theory, supported by practical examples. A selection of topics includes: origin of physical principles, objectives of physics, Galileo, Huygens, Newton, kinematics, dynamics, statics, mechanics, etc. The theoretical exploration of the topics is complemented by a section with practice problems.
