Abstract: Just a few years ago, the topic "Source work in the historical learning area in primary school" would hardly have been a subject in history didactics. At that time, historical learning in primary school was on the fringes of history didactics, barely explored, and source work seemed almost impossible in primary education. However, since the 1960s, source work has increasingly gained importance in lower secondary education, as evidenced by the higher proportion of sources in textbooks at this level. Is this trend to be extended to primary school? Or, to put it differently: To what extent is source work in primary school meaningful and promising? What significance can it have?.
