Abstract: In this paper, I address the topic of juvenile delinquency and the question of how the Hanseatic city of Hamburg deals with juvenile delinquency, using the example of violence prevention in childhood. First, I will define juvenile delinquency according to the current state of research and distinguish it from deviance, as there are often contradictions regarding these terms. Subsequently, I will refer to the crime statistics of the BKA to highlight constants or changes in the temporal context. In the following sections, selected explanatory approaches will be presented, and prevention and intervention measures will be discussed.
