The multi-volume handbook on breed and ornamental poultry, which began at Neumann-Neudamm Publishing in Melsungen, will henceforth be published under the editorship of Dr. Horst Schmidt at Eugen Ulmer Publishing. The first volume of the new edition is the volume on large and waterfowl. It primarily targets breed poultry breeders and describes and illustrates 54 breeds and color varieties of turkeys, guinea fowl, geese, and ducks. In addition to detailed descriptions, it includes the foundational forms and an introduction to the cultural history of the wild species, as well as new research on the behavior of these poultry species and their appropriate husbandry. The book can serve both as a qualified specialist book and as a comprehensive reference work. Domesticated turkeys, guinea fowl, geese, and ducks have long been companions in the development of human culture.
