Digital media cultures have led to the emergence of novel configurations in the arts, which can essentially be defined as exchange relationships between heterogeneous fields of practice. Artistic processes have arisen that lack a secure institutional location or media framework. Instead, movements of translating, circulating, intervening, and grouping mark the conditions of their production and experience. From various perspectives (film, dance, theater, and media studies), the contributors to this volume develop methods and concepts to describe these process-oriented aesthetic practices.
