In addition to photography, film has increasingly established itself in scientific work over the past few decades. Due to its excellent capabilities for analyzing various types of motion processes, as well as its vivid, demonstrative effect, film has already become an indispensable research and teaching tool in many natural science, medical, and technical disciplines. Since the technical aids and creative possibilities in scientific cinematography are extraordinarily numerous and often differ significantly from those in general film production, we hope that this work, which is exclusively dedicated to scientific cinematography, will provide the film-interested scientist with a welcome source of information.
