Upbringing, education, and supervision in groups are among the most important ways of early childhood socialization. This work combines central aspects of group psychology with those of developmental psychology, allowing for their application in early childhood education. A historical overview demonstrates that supervision in groups does not follow evolutionary principles but originated from economic and fiscal needs and has always been a subject of debate. The work focuses on questions regarding the advantages and disadvantages of learning in groups, group structures, and group leadership in early education, as well as the risks associated with groups. Additionally, the areas of heterogeneity and multiculturalism, which are becoming increasingly significant, are analyzed in depth.
