Archaeology and heritage preservation in the city of Zurich engaged in interesting projects from 2008 to 2010: The renovation of the former Radium cinema on Mühlegasse provided insights into construction phases from the medieval Niederdorf to the time when moving images first appeared. At Stadthausquai, archaeologists uncovered the remains of the medieval Limmat riverbank wall as well as pieces from a 14th-century rosary workshop. A fragment of a breastplate from around 1500 sheds light on the elaborate production of an early modern military outfit. The restoration of the town hall highlights the original building constructed by Arnold Geiser in 1885. After restoration, the original decorative painting from 1908 can once again be admired in the Oerlikon church. The larger contributions are accompanied by information from city districts.
