Product details

With his main work, the Freudenberg Cantonal School in Zurich, Jacques Schader gained international renown. The architect, known for the clear organization of his structures and the fluid spatial transitions, is one of the most important representatives of post-war modernism in Switzerland. In the early 1950s, Jacques Schader worked as an editor for the architecture magazine Bauen und Wohnen alongside his independent construction activities. From 1960 to 1970, he taught as a professor of design at ETH Zurich, primarily in the field of residential construction. This publication presents him for the first time in all facets of his professional engagement and with his entire body of work. His buildings and projects, of which the most significant are discussed in detail, exemplify central design parameters of post-war modernism: grid and module, transparency and interpenetration.
