"The Construction of Cities" is the title of the manuscript that Le Corbusier wrote during his year-long stay in Germany in 1910/11, which addresses the architectural and artistic challenges of urban planning. By focusing on the aesthetic aspects of urban theory, it holds a unique position within Le Corbusier's oeuvre and distinctly contrasts with the functional rhetoric of his later urban designs and writings. This publication presents Le Corbusier's manuscript for the first time in its complete form - in the original French text and in German translation, along with the illustrations intended by Le Corbusier and relevant excerpts from the sources he referenced. Additionally, Christoph Schnoor examines the history of the manuscript's creation.
