Bulky, compact, and profitable – these are the characteristics of "clumps," the research subject that the authors of the third BSA scholarship have focused on. Viewed without prejudice, this economically successful building type, with a footprint of over 3,000 square meters and a hybrid program, can contribute to urban densification. In recent years, clumps have become widespread in the remaining free spaces in Swiss city centers and well-connected surroundings. This has introduced a new standard into the cities. However, the spaces that emerge between the large buildings also present conceptual challenges.
