The Handbook on Disability and Sport addresses a topic that has gained significant relevance in connection with the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Germany in 2009 and its current implementation efforts across all areas of society, yet still occupies a marginal position in sports science. The handbook offers numerous points of approach from both a scientific perspective and the viewpoint of reflective practice. These are explored in 39 contributions focusing on the following areas: fundamentals and development, target groups, orientations and organizational forms, promotion and teaching, as well as movement opportunities and sports forms. The Handbook on Disability and Sport aims to engage educators and students in sports science, special education, and social pedagogy, as well as medical and therapeutic professionals.
