The handbook introduces positions from current exile literature research and explores their potential for working with texts that center on the experience of exile. Through exemplary individual analyses, sixty works of German-speaking exile literature are presented. Introductory overviews provide information about the possibilities and limitations of theoretical perspectives, particularly as stimulated by Postcolonial Studies, Gender Studies, Jewish Studies, as well as intercultural German studies and cultural studies of memory research.
