This work by the mineralogist and botanist Kaspar Graf Sternberg (1761 to 1838) consists of two parts. In the first part, Sternberg describes the state of botany in Bohemia from the time of the revival of sciences in Europe until the end of the 16th century. The second part is a critical assessment of the works on plants that were published in Bohemia. Sternberg, who is considered the founder of modern paleobotany, takes the reader of this historical book on a scientific journey into the early 19th century. This book is a reprint of the long out-of-print original edition from 1817.
