The present work by Jean Habel depicts his journey through South America, which he originally undertook to explore high mountain valleys. His travels took Habel from the La Plata states through Buenos Aires to the valleys of the Rio de Las Bodegas and Panama, where he was taken as a political prisoner by the Argentine government, among other experiences. Various panoramas and photographs are included in the appendix of the book as supporting material. This is a high-quality reprint of the original edition from 1897.
