The most diverse means, drawn from the entire realm of external creation, can be found in the vast domain of art, where they are united into living forms that nonetheless evoke profound emotional responses in us. Regardless of how differently the material may be shaped in which the arts imprint their archetypes of beauty, and how varied the methods are to which nature compels them, there must still be certain common fundamental features of creation present in them, upon which the evocative power of their representations relies. The philosopher Hermann Lotze (1817 to 1881) was one of the central figures of academic philosophy in the 19th century and remained one of the most renowned and discussed philosophers in Germany until the 1920s. Lotze enjoyed worldwide recognition during his lifetime.
