Product details
This work contains, in its special section, the previously unpublished historical account of the occurrence of cholera in Hamburg from 1831 to 1873. This account is the result of the examination of earlier epidemics that I carried out on behalf of the Cholera Commission of the Hamburg Senate and based on all available official and private sources during the winter of 1892/93. The significant importance attributed to the Hamburg epidemic of 1892 for cholera research is most clearly expressed in the preface to Gaffky's work, where it states: "The great epidemic in Hamburg signifies, we can already say today, the beginning of a new chapter in the history of cholera." But this is not only relevant for the cholera issue, but also for epidemiological research in general, particularly.
