We have no information about the poet group of Puy, which created the forty Miracles de Nostre Dame par Personnages that concern us; in fact, we cannot even specify with certainty where that Puy was located, where these dramas were performed. The present work deals with dramas from the second group, dramas that were based on the narratives of Gautiers de Coincy about the miracles of the Mother of God. In total, there are only 8, or rather 9 narratives by Gautiers - although these are the ones he treated most extensively - that have undergone such a dramatic adaptation, and yet this relatively small number is of particular importance. This is a reprint of the long out-of-print original edition from 1892.
