The Swiss writer Jakob Heer undertook an exciting journey at the end of the 19th century, which he recounts in the present work. The journey took him through the Gotthard Tunnel to Venice and then on to Trieste. He wonderfully describes in great detail the small towns and beautiful landscapes, customs and traditions, as well as the climatic conditions of the region he traveled through.
