Product details
Paul Herrmann (1866-1930) describes in this third volume of his travel memoirs the experiences of his second journey across Iceland. He discusses the coasts, the large lava cave Surtshellir, as well as many other stops along his trip. The author interestingly brings the diverse nature of Iceland, with its geysers, volcanoes, glaciers, and highlands, as well as the history of Iceland and its people, closer to the reader. He engagingly shares his experiences with the land and its people, which he had the opportunity to gather during his research trips in the early 20th century. Paul Herrmann undertook research trips to Iceland with the support of the Prussian Ministry of Education in the years 1904, 1908, 1911, and 1914.
