The special muscle physiology, as its name suggests, stands in contrast to general muscle physiology. The latter seeks to explore the causes of muscle movement in general and primarily deals with the question of the nature of muscle contraction. In contrast, the task of special physiology of movements is to investigate the laws of movements that the entire body or its individual parts perform with the help of muscle contractions. As a result of the groundbreaking research by Otto Fischer, the perspectives in the field of special muscle physiology have changed more in recent decades than in any other physiological discipline. It was therefore appropriate to compile all the recent findings into a unified presentation, which also serves as a textbook in its execution.
