The studies published here deal with the labor movement and socialism in the United States of America. The United States of America is the promised land for capitalism: the land of promise. Here, all the conditions necessary for the full and pure development of its essence have been fulfilled. The land and its people have been shaped like nowhere else to promote its development to the highest forms. Nowhere on earth has capitalist economy and capitalist essence reached such high development as in North America. Nowhere is the drive for acquisition expressed more purely than here; nowhere is the pursuit of profit, the making of money for its own sake, so exclusively the starting and ending point of all economic activity as it is here: every minute of life is filled with this striving, and only death ends the insatiable yearning.
