Product details
Additive Manufacturing (AM) is the globally standardized term for the manufacturing technique of layer-based processes, which became known as Rapid Prototyping in the late 1980s and have since made their way into various industries. Today, AM is not only an essential tool for the direct digital production of models and prototypes but also a manufacturing process for producing end products made of plastic and metal, as well as for creating tools, jigs, and molds. With the introduction of small and affordable machines and the penetration of AM into private sectors, the term 3D printer has become prevalent, often referred to simply as a printer or fabber (derived from fabricator; someone who makes). Consequently, the world now commonly refers to the process as printing when discussing the application of AM. At the other end of the scale, development continues.
