Product details
With the return of the successful general Titus Andronicus to the capital, the internal decay of the Roman Empire begins. What once held together through wisdom, form, and law is brutally dissolving - there is arbitrariness, whim, and suddenness. The city sinks into anarchy. Botho Strauss has transformed Shakespeare's tragedy Titus Andronicus into a new form: adaptations, variations, and additions create a kind of "overpainting," a version of its own scenic consistency. Premiere directed by Claus Peymann at the Berliner Ensemble.
