Nineteen-year-old Therese sees a woman in the subway station and believes she recognizes her mother. As she follows her, memories return: of her childhood, when she was called "the little Bijou," of her mother, a failed ballerina, of the apartment by the Bois de Boulogne, and of the men who came and went there. And of how her mother left her little daughter and went to Morocco. Like in a haunting dream, Therese chases the figure while being pursued by images of the past herself.
