This book presents, for the first time, a comprehensive and detailed investigation into the development of philosophy under the rule of National Socialism across various universities. Taking into account the general political climate at universities during the Weimar Republic and the years of the Third Reich, the author assesses what was understood and taught as philosophy at Bavarian universities during this period. Biographical data and the disclosure of political and institutional backgrounds provide the framework for the analysis of the thoughts of philosophers who are particularly significant in the context of the relationship between philosophy and National Socialism. The extensive appendix includes, among other things, personnel bibliographies and lists of philosophical courses from the years 1933-1945.
