"Harmonically opposed" is a fundamental term in Hölderlin's poetics. However, there has not yet been a systematic treatise that consistently explores this central representation structure through Hölderlin's poetic and poetological writings. This monograph attempts to fill this gap by re-examining the basic structure of "representation," which has shaped Western philosophy and poetry since antiquity, in relation to Hölderlin, and articulating its far-reaching implications in both poetic and poetological terms more precisely than previous research.
