Product details

Willy Fleckhaus (1925-1983) was referred to as the "most expensive pencil in Germany" and Germany's first art director. No one else shaped the visual culture of the still young Federal Republic during the 1960s, 70s, and 80s like he did. He merged the rationality of Swiss graphic design with the passionate emotionality of American magazine design. He gained international recognition for his groundbreaking design of the youth magazine Twen, which influenced several generations with its content concept, generous layout, modern typography, and photography. Fleckhaus collaborated with significant photographers of his time, such as Will McBride, Thomas Höpker, Hans Feurer, Charlotte March, Ulrich Mack, Guido Mangold, Stefan Moses, and Reinhart Wolf. In addition to his work for Twen, he also developed layout concepts for the magazine Illustriert.
