When Theobald Robert Jäger awoke from his nearly three-week coma, he could remember nothing. The time before the coma and the now beginning phase of his life were two separate worlds for him. He was 25 years old when it happened. His wife found him in the bathroom, where he had presumably been unconscious for hours. The doctors diagnosed a brain hemorrhage so severe that their prognosis was: only one in 10,000 patients survives such a condition. But he woke up! However, everything that happened was immediately forgotten again. Thoughts, feelings, scenes, words, people, and encounters all flew by like the landscape seen from an ICE train that relentlessly continued on, never stopping. He no longer recognized his wife and daughter, did not know his name, who he was, or how he had been, and had to completely relearn skills like walking, writing, and arithmetic.
