Pit moves with his parents from Hamburg to a small village. There, he feels lonely because he doesn't know anyone. His start at school is disappointing as well: his classmates laugh at him because of his weight and call him "Jelly." Additionally, he has to cope with the fact that he has a little sister. However, when he manages to connect with a nice classmate through the baby and realizes that his classmate Thomas is also looking for a real friend, life in the countryside starts to look much better. Gradually, Pit gains new friends and newfound self-confidence. He even overcomes his fear of water and voluntarily takes a swimming course. By the end of the school year, being able to shine as the best swimmer in his grade earns him the admiration of his family and friends.
