Product details
Brigitte Kowanz (born 1957 in Vienna) is one of the internationally significant artists in the field of genuine light works. Since the early 1980s, she has been exploring the medium of light as an independent phenomenon that not only illuminates but also serves as a carrier of information, similar to language and writing, generating meaning: From light, shapes, perspectives, and words emerge, which become space, extend into the surroundings, and redefine them. The resulting interplay between matter and immaterial glow challenges not only the viewer's sight but also their cognition, prompting them to draw a boundary between these merging poles. The catalog captures the magic and impact of the works that the artist created specifically for the Austrian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2017, allowing for an experience of the installation.
