Product details

Nature is not only the mother of all being but also one of humanity's oldest and most diverse themes in art. Equally ancient are the attempts to abstract nature in the hope of grasping its principles, at least in part. The exhibition and publication "Tree Connections," along with the installation "Arena for a Tree" in public space, aim to provide a new impetus for this current and controversial dialogue between art and nature. At the same time, the globally renowned project "For Forest" – the temporary forest in the Klagenfurt stadium – continues on another level. The breathtaking views of this unique project also offer fascinating insights into our current and (un-)ecological thinking and actions. Starting in May 2021, the Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger will host a group exhibition curated by Littmann, featuring works by Alexandre Calame, Joseph Beuys, Christo, Jannis Kounellis, Giuseppe Penone, Günther Uecker, Tony Cragg, Michael Sailstorfer, Miriam Cahn, and Sol LeWitt.

Klaus Littmann (1951) studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in the 1970s. His encounters with Joseph Beuys there influenced his work. As an artist, art mediator, and curator, he enjoys international recognition. Littmann lives and works in Basel.
