Setting: Ukraine - the fractured East of Europe. A city located in the northwest of the country is divided by a wall into two zones - Riwne, which belongs to the West Ukrainian Republic, and Rowno. Rowno is part of the Socialist Ukrainian Republic, where both politically and linguistically, a return to the Soviet past has occurred. The two parts are connected only by a narrow corridor. Pure fiction? Or a possible future scenario? A journey to the old homeland - with no guarantee of return. Shlojma Ezirwan has made a name for himself in the history of Ukrainian literature. Long before the division, he was known throughout the country. Now, just before the premiere of his latest play in Riwne, he visits his family who remained in Rowno: a journey into his past, to the places of his childhood, youth, and first love.
