Product details

The drama of a mentally disabled farmer's son: for the parents, he is merely a burden and a good-for-nothing in the harsh reality of daily work, ostracized from the village community, mocked, and pushed to the margins. "No Place for Idiots" is a literary event: poignant, authentic, and stirring. "No Place for Idiots" premiered in 1977 as the first play by the Tyrolean playwright Felix Mitterer. Since then, there have been 76 productions with approximately 1240 performances, during which the author himself played the role of the disabled main character over 200 times in Innsbruck, Vienna, and on a tour of Germany. The play has been translated into numerous dialects throughout the German-speaking world and has also been recorded multiple times by television stations. Seventeen years after its premiere, a television film was produced, with a screenplay that deviates in some aspects from the play.
